Gordon Receives FEMA Award

On October 10, 2018 Hurricane Michael caused wind damage to certain parts of Gordon.Especially hard hit was the Gordon-Wilkinson Recreation Park.

The Park was originally built by volunteers and operated as such from about 1959.

The City of Gordon later became involved for a few years and later, Gordon and Wilkinson entered into an M.O. A contract to provide recreation opportunities to all citizens

.Terry Eady has served as Gordon’s representative on the County Recreation Board since 2002, and was instrumental in developing all the evidence of damage to the park as a

result of Hurricane Michael.

Mr. Eady and the Mayor received a check from FEMA in the amount of $63,000 for reimbursement of the repair, made by the City of Gordon for repairs.

Mr. Eady and the City Officials have expressed sincere “Thank you’s” to Mr. Gary Brown, and Ms. Emma Bacon, officials of the Wilkinson County Emergency

Management Agency for their efforts in obtaining this award refunding the  cities expenditures.
